Printed by Curwen Press 15.5022 Frame: 17” x 21” Image: 11” x 15” Edward Ardizzone RA (1900-1979) was a British painter, printmaker and war artist, and the author and illustrator of books, many of them for children. In February 1940, Ardizzone was appointed an Official War Artist and at the end of March he embarked for France to work with the British Expeditionary Force. During the Second World War he travelled more widely in Britain and Europe than any other war artist, documenting his experiences in both drawings and diaries which today are kept by Imperial War Museum.
